Romantix Mixtape - Cassette

Samira Winter packed up her life in Los Angeles and departed for New York just as she was putting the finishing touches on her soon-to-be-released LP ’Adult Romantix.’ The songwriter and guitarist had been a mainstay in Los Angeles’ music scene for over a decade, carving out her own niche of gloriously detailed and eclectic dream pop under the name Winter. Leading up to her emotional coast-to-coast move, she spent roughly two years writing songs in a transitory state: often in between tours, in different cities, and in various sublets.

The resulting thirteen tracks became her beloved 2025 LP, ‘Adult Romantix’— a goodbye love letter to Los Angeles. Dubbed “a shimmering shoegaze fantasy worthy of soundtracking the next coming-of-age indie flick” by The Boston Globe, ‘Adult Romantix’ was praised by The FADER, Paste, NPR, KEXP, Clash, The Line Of Best Fit, and Stereogum. In support of the LP, Winter embarked on headline tours across the US, Canada, Japan, the UK, and Europe, including performances at Pitchfork London Festival, and Indieplaza Festival.

After spending much of 2025 on the road supporting an album inspired by nostalgia, Winter decided to revisit the songs in the form of a new project she’s fittingly titled Romantix Mixtape. Built from the same world of the Brazilian-born indie rocker’s celebrated 2025 LP, the new project includes reimagined songs, reworked demo versions, b-side tracks and never-before-heard material. Ever the collaborator, ‘Romantix Mixtape’ invites many new features, including Soccer Mommy duetting on a soft and dreamy version of “without you,” a Peel Dream Magazine take on “hide-a-lullaby”, and a moody, trip-hop-inspired co-write with California’s Eyedress called “nicotine.”

Romantix Mixtape continues to explore the ephemeral edges of Winter’s dreamy, yet visceral sound: the EP is all swirling guitars, cigarette-glazed vocals and icy breakbeats floating between strummy bliss, propelling energy and melancholic desire. Winter reworks album deep cuts “hollow” and “candy #9,” giving them an up-tempo lift and a new sonic palette. EP closer “infinito mar” calls back to Winter’s Brazilian roots with a slow-burning lullaby sung in Portuguese. It’s a perfect end cap to ‘Romantix Mixtape,’ expanding on Winter’s immersive, shoegaze-infused sonic world.
