As I Once Transformed Myself For You, So I Must Now Transform Myself For Heaven, is a short, cinematic release concerned with the quiet drifting apart of companions. It departs from its predecessor Club Dread’s more aggressive production, laying out a plaintive, atmospheric landscape. Each track is styled to capture a distinct moment in the lives of its characters. The darkened piano balladry of “Desert Wings” swells into triumphant climax on “Paradise” and, eventually, wades off into “The Gate”’s watery ambience. Majetic’s voice is clear and devotional throughout, setting each word carefully into space. AIOTMFY, SIMNTMFH opens abruptly with a simple declaration: “I trust you”– an invitation to leave pretense at the door and trust in turn.
